FIBRE TECHNOLOGY

Fiber is the basic entity either natural or manufactured which is twisted into yarns and then used in the production of a fabric.
Filament is a manufactured fiber of indefinite length (continuous) extruded from the spinneret during the fiber production process.
Fibers can be classified in to two main classed according to nature of absorbency :
Hydrophilic Fiber
Fibers that absorb water easily take longer to dry and require more ironing e.g. cotton
Hydrophobic Fiber
Fibers that lack the ability to absorb water e.g. polyester.
