Fiber
is the basic entity either natural or manufactured which is twisted into yarns
and then used in the production of a fabric.
Filament
is a manufactured fiber of indefinite length (continuous) extruded from the
spinneret during the fiber production process.
Fibers
can be classified in to two main classed according to nature of absorbency :
Hydrophilic
Fiber
Fibers
that absorb water easily take longer to dry and require more ironing e.g.
cotton
Hydrophobic
Fiber
Fibers
that lack the ability to absorb water e.g. polyester.
